About 511

511 Overview

511 is a free phone and web service that consolidates San Diego’s regional transportation information into a one-stop resource. 511 provides up-to-the minute information on traffic conditions, incidents and driving times, schedule, route and fare information for public transportation, carpool and vanpool referrals, bicycling information, and more. The automated 511 service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visit the 511 Phone Overview webpage to find operator hours for public transportation and other services.

511 is led by SANDAG and managed by a partnership of public agencies: the California Highway Patrol (CHP), California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), and North County Transit District (NCTD).
