South Bay Expressway

The 10-mile South Bay Expressway takes you to the places you want to go. The toll road begins at SR 905 in Otay Mesa, and provides fast and convenient access to and from Mexico and connections to East County, Downtown, and points north. Whether you’re commuting to work or school, traveling to Mexico, or driving to South Bay shopping and entertainment centers, South Bay Expressway takes you there!

FasTrak automatically deducts the South Bay Expressway toll from a prepaid account using a transponder, so FasTrak customers don’t need to stop to pay. FasTrak customers also pay up to less than $2 per trip than drivers who pay with cash or credit cards. Don’t have a FasTrak account? You can still use South Bay Expressway by paying with cash or credit card at the toll machine. If you did not have cash/credit to pay your toll on South Bay Expressway, use the Pay-by-Plate option to pay the toll, plus a $2 processing fee, within four days.

Learn about new transponder technology, including stickers, and how they are read on our roadways in our FAQs.

Need to pay a South Bay Expressway toll violation? If you received a toll violation, contact the customer service center or pay the violation online.

Our walk-in Customer Service Center is open to the public as of June 15, 2020. We are practicing social distancing and only two customers will be allowed to enter at a time. Facial coverings are required. Assistance by phone and email is still available during normal business hours. Toll Attendants have returned to staffing the Otay Mesa Toll Plaza.
