Freeway Service Patrol
Freeway Service Patrol Service hours :
Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. 
Peak: 5:30 - 9:30 a.m.
Midday: 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Peak: 2:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Effective July 1, 2021. The Freeway Service Patrol does not operate on Federal holidays. 

Service is available in most of the metropolitan region, with the exception of the Santee portion of SR 52, SR 56, SR 67, SR 125, and SR 905. See the service area map for details.

The Freeway Service Patrol can help motorists with:
  • A gallon of gas
  • Changing a flat tire
  • A jump start
  • Water for the radiator
Freeway Service Patrol If FSP can’t get a vehicle running, they will tow the vehicle, at no charge, to a safe, pre-determined location designated by the CHP. FSP drivers cannot tow vehicles to a private facility or home and are not permitted to recommend service companies or repair/body shops.

Each white FSP tow and pickup truck has the statewide Freeway Service Patrol logo on the door. Drivers wear blue uniforms and yellow safety vests. After completing a CHP training program, FSP drivers receive certification and are not allowed to accept any tips or payment.
